Warm Up America

What is Warm Up America! (WUA!)

Welcome to Warm Up America! the charity that has warmed peoples' lives since 1991. It started in a small Wisconsin town with neighbors knitting and crocheting afghans for neighbors in need. Thanks to the creativity of founder Evie Rosen who came up with the idea of having volunteers knit or crochet small sections and then others join them together, the idea quickly caught on. Today Warm Up America distributes warm afghans, caps and other items to tens of thousands of people, thanks to the generosity of knitters and crocheters around the country.

How to get involved:

  • crocheting or knitting one or more 7" by 9" sections for Warm Up America!
  • joining sections into completed afghans,
  • donating yarns and needles/hooks to groups in your community,
  • contributing money to expand WUA! to groups nationwide.

Joyful Heart Foundation

The Joyful Heart Foundation's mission is to heal, educate and empower survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence and child abuse, and to shed light into the darkness that surrounds these issues.

joyful heart
by Mariska Hargitay

our hearts…
guide us,
sustain us,
inspire us,
give us strength and courage -
and fill us with
infinite joy.

treat your heart gently,
listen to its wisdom.
nourish it.
water it daily.
so it can grow -
and then smile with pride when
you feel it open.

Make- A- Wish Foundation

Donate Airline Miles

Because many wishes involve air travel
A Message from Our President-David Williams

"Welcome to Wish.org, the online home of the nation’s largest wish-granting organization. Since 1980, the Make-A-Wish Foundation® has given hope, strength and joy to children with life-threatening medical conditions. From our humble beginnings with one boy’s wish to be a police officer, we’ve evolved into an organization that grants a child’s wish in the U.S. every 40 minutes."

Donating your airline miles is a great way
to help grant wishes. By donating your airline miles you’re helping the Make-A-Wish Foundation grant travel wishes that require an estimated 2.5 billion airline miles yearly.

Allan's Trees and First Candle

Holiday Art and Craft Sale

To benefit stillbirth research and prevention

The majority of stillbirth deaths are at or near full-term (37+ weeks) and no cause or risk factors are ever found. Stillbirth, the death of an infant in-utero and past 20 completed gestational weeks, claims more than 26,000 babies in the United States each year. It is the leading cause of infant death in the U.S. Stillbirth cuts across socio-economic classes, races, religions, body types and maternal age groups. No woman is immune. Research on causes and prevention is desperately needed. Researchers have just begun delving into the causes for stillbirth (how is it that stillbirth has gone unstudied for so long?), and with financial support from First Candle, could do even more to prevent more unnecessary losses like Allan's.
