Is It Working for You?

A WORKSHOP FOR MOMS

WHAT IS MY WORK AND HOW IS IT WORKING FOR ME?

Sunday, June 28, 2009 8:30 am – 12:30 pm

The Still Point 7009 Carroll Avenue Takoma Park, MD

Broadly defined, “work” is what we do out of necessity or purpose. This half-day workshop provides an opportunity for you to explore your life’s work. The outcome is inspiration and action – you will leave motivated and newly equipped to address the issues that support deeper satisfaction and success in your work however you envision it. The Still Point (https://webmailcluster.perfora.net/xml/webmail/mailContent;jsessionid=3C1DDD677E699A24E502D942CBCC71F0.TC135a#), a holistic spa in Takoma Park, provides a perfect location for this special program. Participating in the program means: · Broadly defining your life’s “work.” · Identifying your values and being able to articulate them in a compelling way. · Describing a “work” vision for yourself. · Considering your strengths and how you can use them today and into your future. · Addressing balance between as well as within your work activities. · Setting at least one individual, actionable “work satisfaction” goal. · Experiencing camaraderie, learning, and fun Additionally and in light of today’s economic realities, one cannot lose sight of new “work” challenges. As such, throughout the program, the facilitator will invite you to consider the importance of weighing purpose and passion with practicality in your “work.”
The $48 ($56 after 6/17) workshop fee includes the 4-hour program, materials, and a light breakfast. Following program completion, the facilitator offers an [optional] individual, 30-minute coaching call to discuss your key insights. You also will receive follow up resources to complement program content.

S.O.M.E. thing Wonderful

In this time of crazy sales both in store and online, I'd like to draw your attention to a very worthy cause.
S.O.M.E. which stands for So Others Might Eat has a holiday request that is great for the whole family.
Shoebox Gifts
A shoebox gift
is a shoebox filled with personal items useful to a homeless man, woman, or child. We ask that you PLEASE WRAP THE LID AND BOX SEPARATELY. This will help SOME staff and volunteers to insure that the shoebox contents are equitable. Also, please place a tag on the outside of each box designating whether it is for a "MAN", "WOMAN", or "CHILD."
In the case of a shoebox gift for a child, please also indicate the age range (and gender, if applicable) of the intended recipient. Finally, please consider that as we serve many more men than women, we need more men's shoeboxes than women's shoeboxes.
Each box should include:
MEN: A hat, a scarf, a pair of gloves (sets are extra nice). A pair of socks and a pair of underwear. Large or trial size deodorant, razors, trial size soap, shampoo, lotion, toothbrush, toothpaste.
WOMEN: A hat, a scarf, a pair of gloves (sets are extra nice). A pair of socks and a pair of underwear. Large or trial size deodorant, razors, trial size soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, lotion.
CHILDREN: A toy and/or game. A hat, a scarf, a pair of gloves (sets are extra nice). A pair of socks and a pair of underwear. Trial size soap, shampoo, lotion.

*Items should be new and unopened.
*Long johns also make great presents.

My family and I make a party out of it. We invite a few families over-have dinner and do SOME good.

Making Waves

Adrift on the Signal
Photographs by Tom Drymon
Inspired by short wave radio enthusiasts who scan the air waves for signals around the world, adrift on the signal is an attempt to capture the random, nonlinear nature of memory and time. With photos chosen from Tom's collection from the past 20 years, he conveys a sense of timelessness, where memories burble to the top and then are lost again, or stay with you for days on end.
